after high school.  The JCTC business and

marketing pathway allows students to gain

experience in business and marketing curriculum

and solve real business problems through

engaging lessons, collaboration and technology. 

We offer challenging, authentic, hands on

projects that foster learning by doing in a creative

environment.  JCTC business and marketing

students have the opportunity to develop key

employability skills and explore career

possibilities in the industry leaving them college

Principles of Marketing 1 Credit

Why would Apple choose an e-mail campaign over a TV commercial? How does Nike determine its prices? Through projects and problems you will get inside marketers’ heads and find out what makes them tick.  This course is project based and provides a basic foundation for further study in marketing.  Students study economic functions at work in the marketplace, marketing functions including product/service management, purchasing, pricing, and distribution functions. 

 

 

Advertising and Promotion  1 Credit

Produce, promote, and design advertising campiagns. This course is designed to provide students with a realistic “hands-on” application of techniques used in the advertising and promotion of goods and services. Students use digital media (computer-generated text, graphics, photographs, sound and video) equipment, while being exposed to all forms of media (print, web page, etc.) used by industry today.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Our guiding principles explain how we fulfill our mission by addressing what we do and the outcomes we expect. DECA enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, applying learning in the context of business, connecting to business and the community and promoting competition. Our student members leverage their DECA experience to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders. Our attributes and values describe DECA's priorities and standards.
